Salary or Budget: $26.92 - $33.65 per hour
Experience required: 3+ years

CBS Sacramento, the owned and operated duopoly in West Sacramento, has an immediate opening for a Director.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Direct live, fast-paced newscasts as well as webcasts and other programs using the Sony ELC automated production system.
  • Served as Assistant Director for newscasts and other programs.
  • Perform as audio operator and studio support as needed.
  • Work closely with producers and the news department on developing high-quality, technically clean newscasts and programs.
  • Apply technical expertise and creative style to crafting interesting productions within accepted guidelines and standards.
  • Direct and/or provide production support for special sports and entertainment programs, including both studio and remote productions.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • At least three years of directing and/or technical directing in a broadcast news environment.
  • College degree or equivalent preferred
  • Experience with automated production systems desired.
  • Sony ELC experience preferred.
  • Ability to multitask in a live news broadcast environment.
  • Working knowledge of control room and studio equipment
  • Experience with newsroom computer systems. iNews preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Proven ability to function well in a team environment.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and tight deadlines.
  • Attention to detail and time management.
  • Troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent computer skills on common computer platforms
  • Willing and able to work any shift in a 24/7/365 working environment, including weekends, overnights, and holidays.

The hiring salary range for this position applies to New York, California, Colorado, Washington state, and most other geographies. Starting pay for the successful applicant depends on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education. The benefits available for this position include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, tuition assistance program and PTO or, if applicable, as otherwise dictated by the appropriate Collective Bargaining Agreement.
