The main function of the Associate Producer I position will be to support graphics and content for our live event coverage. The position will be assigned to an array of remote sports productions and participate in the creative development of assigned productions, storyline ideas and concepts for remote and integrated events.

Departmental Summary: The Non-Traditional Production Team works directly with all of ESPN’s Collegiate Conference partners on both Linear and Digital productions. The team supports over 1,000 linear events produced from school production facilities, multiple NCAA, ACC and SEC Championships, as well as several other productions. The Non-Traditional Production team collaborates with many internal departments at ESPN, such as Programming, Operations, and individual Sport Production teams, as well as providing feedback and assistance directly to our school partners.

Responsibilities:

  • Support graphic productions during live events from school control rooms.
  • Provide feedback on graphic productions on linear and digital school productions.
  • Evaluate school production and technical capabilities to produce graphics at ESPN’s standards.
  • Work closely with ESPN Sport Leaders and Graphic Managers to implement sport guidelines and initiatives on school productions.
  • Works closely with the Producer to design, implement and execute on air graphics that support storylines for remote telecasts.
  • Uses knowledge or sports and graphics to help determine the concepts, looks, and content of graphics for assigned events.
  • Coordinates and supports various aspects of the production of assigned telecasts including schedules and facilities.
  • Participates in the creative development and contributes to the storyline ideas for assigned telecasts.
  • Researches sports information and obtains materials as directed for assigned remote telecasts.
  • Tracks and reports on production schedules and budgets; updates production tracking spreadsheets; tracks the flow of remote production assets.
  • Trains and mentors Content Associates and Production Assistants in various roles that include prepping elements for a game, event, edit, or shoot.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 2 years of experience with remote sports/events.
  • Strong knowledge of the Ross Xpression graphics platform.
  • Strong knowledge of live event production.
  • Ability to manage high volume projects and collaborate with multiple departments.
  • Experience producing graphics for live events.
  • Knowledge of sports and sports history.
  • Experience with operating processes for remote sports productions.
  • Good communication and organizational skills; attention to detail.
  • Ability to function effectively in an atmosphere subject to frequent changes.
  • Has experience in the conduct of several processes and procedures carried out in remote sports productions.
  • Has and applies a basic knowledge of what story ideas and concepts to use for assigned teases, sales features, promotions, rollouts and special animation elements for assigned sports events.
  • Has non-linear editing experience.

Required Education:

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent

Preferred Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree
