Summary:

2D Action-Adventure/Fantasy series is looking for a CG Generalist with a focus in FX. Their primary responsibilities will be creating 2D & 3D animated effects, compositing, and art.

Our ideal candidate would be an organized problem-solver who demonstrates strong artistic and technical abilities. They would have excellent time management skills, able to work under tight schedules and communicate well with team members.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with our Art Director and Supervisors to develop the final look of FX and compositing for the series.
  • Design, animate, light and composite anime-style 2D & 3D FX under the direction of our creative leadership.
  • Create efficient rendering and compositing methods and templates for use in shot production.
  • Troubleshoot vendor issues encountered with FX simulations and elements.
  • Create miscellaneous FX simulations and mockups as needed by the production.
  • Provide shot fixes to FX, compositing, etc. in all phases of production including Post-Production.
  • Develop tools and visual guides for in-house and vendor studio effects and compositing teams in order to maintain a consistent style and quality level.
  • Learn our show’s pipeline to ensure accurate workflow across departments and uphold pipeline standards.
  • Find and present any reference material relevant to the assignment.
  • Propose creative solutions and contribute to new workflows.
  • Regularly report task progress to creative supervisors and appropriate production staff.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer animation, graphic design or related experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years working in TV or film.
  • Skilled in creating FX simulations in Houdini or other software.
  • Compositing expertise in After Effects and Nuke.
  • Knowledge of Adobe Suite including Photoshop and Premiere.
  • Other disciplines such as 3D modeling (character, set, prop), UV layout, blend shapes, rigging, texturing, lighting, finaling, and simple animation a plus.
  • Proficiency in Blender, Maya, Substance, or other 3D tools/software a plus.
  • Experience with Mocap a plus.
  • Scripting experience in MEL and Python a plus.

The hiring salary range for this position applies to New York, California, Colorado, Washington State, and most other geographies. Starting pay for the successful applicant depends on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education. The benefits available for this position include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, tuition assistance program, and PTO or, if applicable, as otherwise dictated by the appropriate Collective Bargaining Agreement.
