We are looking for an experienced Deputy Producer to join our Sky Sports News team, working within the late team (14:00-00:00). This will be a 12 month fixed-term contract.

What you’ll do:

  • Deputise for Producer when required.
  • Lead and produce strands/shows for Sky Sports News; responsible for content and direction of a strand/show – building rundowns and producing in the gallery.
  • Work with Senior Producers, Producers and Deputy Producers to ensure Output is consistent across teams and strands/shows; while also meeting audience needs.
  • Required to produce Output from the Automated Gallery.
  • Display excellent editorial judgement, strong production and news-writing skills; originating story ideas, story treatments and story development.
  • Assist the Producer in providing feedback for show/strand Presenters.
  • Collaborate effectively with other Sky Sports News roles and teams plus the wider business in order to create compelling and imaginative content.
  • Mentor & coach members of the team; supporting and helping the Producer in the management of the team.
  • Line manage Assistant Producers; responsible for annual PDP reviews and people development plans.
  • Assist the Producer in providing feedback for show/strand Presenters and to guests used on strands/shows.


What you’ll bring:

  • Experience of producing linear content, ideally at a sports broadcaster or major news agency.
  • Demonstrate strong Gallery production skills.
  • Excellent writing skills and expert understanding of grammar, spelling & journalistic principles.
  • Demonstrate high levels of creativity and innovation.
  • Experience and ability to collaborate and work with staff at all levels, displaying strong verbal and written communication skills.
