JOB TITLE: Digital Media Producer

Visitors experience 400 years of history through groundbreaking exhibitions, immersive films, and thought-provoking conversations among renowned historians and public figures at the New-York Historical Society, New York’s first museum. A great destination for history since 1804, the Museum and the Patricia D. Klingenstein Library convey the stories of the city and nation’s diverse populations, expanding our understanding of who we are as Americans and how we came to be.

We are looking for a creative, collaborative person who’s enthusiastic about the New-York Historical Society and eager to contribute to its 218-year-old mission. Our ideal candidate is skilled at creating animations for video and web formats with a solid sense of marketing and social media strategies, who is passionate about conceiving and creating great digital content for multiple formats, and loves film and video.

Shoots video for communications projects (program and exhibition promotions, exhibition content, educations videos, and advertisements);
Creates video animation for original productions (program introductions, lower third animations, exhibition content, educations videos, and advertisements);
Develops trailers for New-York Historical’s podcast to share on marketing platforms and promote audio episodes with original visual content;
Resizes videos for different formats, i.e. different social channels, ad channels, and web templates; creating accessible content for multiple marketing platforms and social channels, including re-purposing for different platform features: Instagram (Stories, Reels, IGTV), Facebook, LinkedIn, YouTube, and Twitter, meeting each platform’s specific needs;
Collaborates with Director of Creative Production and Social Media Manager to conceive of new media projects to promote the institution, especially exhibitions and programs;
Maintains and defines New-York Historical’s brand and look on all projects
Helps manage YouTube platform and conceive of potential solutions for growing subscribers and views; uploads institutional videos from various departments and organizes them on the channel
Collaborates on the conception and creation of in-house films: pre-production, filming, to post-production
Ensures all media content complies with New-York Historical’s standards for accessibility across platforms
Creates HTML5 animations for web ads and websites.
5+ years of experience in rich media and film production;
Expertise in using the following software: Final Cut X and Motion and/or Adobe Premiere and After Effects, Adobe Photoshop, Creative Suite Production (editing, sound mixing, and animation); Adobe Audition, Audacity;
Expertise creating HTML5 rich media web experiences;
Familiarity with the following hardware for film and audio production: Canon C70 main camera, C100 Mark ii second camera; Marantz and/or ZOOM Portable Audio Recorders, VO Microphones, Wireless and Wired Lavalier Microphones;
Creative thinker who can produce multiple projects on time and within budget;
Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills; accessible and approachable with interview subjects and other contacts;
Planning and time management skills are crucial;
Resourceful, problem-solver who can work independently;
Ability to lead collaborations with internal and external teams;
Strong commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, belonging and antiracism;
Energy, enthusiasm, initiative, innovation, and entrepreneurial spirit are key qualities for this position;
Experience working on grant-funded projects a bonus.
Salary: $75-85k/annually

This is largely a sedentary role using a computer; however, some filing is required. This would require the ability to lift files (up to 25 pounds), open filing cabinets and bend or stoop as necessary.
