Freelance QC Operator

Our Production Team is looking for freelance QC Operators.

You will be joining them in ensuring encoded content is quality controlled to the highest standard.

Job purpose

The QC Operators ensure that all Digital Cinema content created and distributed at MPS is delivered to the highest possible standards and are in line with the specifications that the client requires.

Additionally, for 3D content, you will be required to 3D depth map subtitles, directly involving you in the creative process of delivering films to the cinema screen.

The QC team work in a shift pattern, and the role will require long hours and weekend work.

Reporting to: The Freelance QC Operator will report to the QC Manager.

Key Responsibilities

The responsibilities of a member of staff at MPS may change over time according to the development need of the department and the individual.
In general, a Freelance QC Operator can expect to undertake the following:

• Quality Control digital cinema content including features and occasional trailers
• Running and understanding the in-house theatre Departments
• Skilled 3D subtitling work using in-house equipment
• Thorough and accurate reporting
• Client facing responsibilities
• Candidate Specification

Essential Experience:

• Experience with Digital Cinema projectors and servers.

Essential Skills & Knowledge:

• Comprehensive understanding of the Digital Cinema Model
• A solid commercial understanding focused on the unique requirements of the company’s business and customer base within the cinema industry
• Fluent in written and spoken English
• Knowledge of a second language, especially French, Spanish or German
• Knowledge of film reel structures and understanding of film post-production practices
• Understanding of different types of video/audio encoding formats, ideally VOD and Home Entertainment requirements
• Experience in post-production/facilities environment.
