We are seeking a Line Producer or experienced Production Manager with a wealth of factual experience to work closely with the editorial team on a series documenting drug use in the UK. You will have responsibility for overseeing all aspects of production whilst leading and developing a team of Production Management staff. The ideal candidate will be have experience of leading teams filming sensitive subject matters and ensure, compliance and Health and Safety measures for teams and contributors is of the highest standards.

This is a hybrid role, part-time office presence will be required with the teams at Television Centre, Wood Lane, London.

Role Responsibility

  • Budgeting, forecasting and managing the budget in conjunction with editorial ambitions.
  • Highlighting problems early by planning ahead.
  • Working with Business Affairs and the Editorial Policy team to ensure the highest standards of production are met and necessary contracts are in place.
  • Realistically scheduling the production, and managing the schedule, including Post Production.
  • Working in partnership with senior editorial colleagues to deliver the very best content to a global audience.
  • Working with the editorial team and BBC Safety advisors to ensure mitigations are in place when necessary.
  • Supporting the Unit Manager to ensure business processes and communication are aligned with the department needs.
  • Managing key stakeholder relationships with external partners, demonstrate enthusiasm for change and continuous improvement whilst working to the strategic aims of the BBC Studios.
  • An Ambassador for diversity, inclusion and sustainability, supporting challenging ambition and delivering results.

 The Ideal Candidate

Candidates will demonstrate:

  • Extensive experience at Senior Production Manager/Line Producer level, in particular have experience of hard hitting factual documentaries.
  • Excellent communication skills and an ability to deal with a number of internal and external stakeholders at all levels.
  • The ability to work strategically, using decision-making skills, advocating different ways of thinking and guiding new ways of working.
  • Confident in challenging and influencing key decisions not just managing decisions that are made.
  • Strong leadership skills and to be confident to work at all levels.
  • Experience at managing others – encouraging, creative, resilient – and will thrive in a busy production environment.
  • Strong organisational and planning skills with the ability to manage conflicting demands ensuring deadlines are met and priorities clearly communicated.
  • Experience in dealing with complex insurance and business affairs issues in accordance with policies and guidelines.
  • Strong negotiation skills, able to influence, manage and negotiate deals and contracts in line with policies and guidelines.
  • To be forward thinking with a positive outlook and demonstrate resilience in challenging situations.
  • Experience of working in the crime genre and/or with vulnerable contributors.
  • A thorough understanding of health and safety procedures.
