We are looking for modellers for both environment and character modelling roles.

Reporting to the Asset Supervisor, you will build three-dimensional CG models of either environments or characters needed for a feature animation project. Working to established designs you will be required to produce an accurate translation of the design reference, staying on model (in style).

As a Modeller you will produce models that meet the creative requirements of the Art Director and the client, making sure they satisfy the technical needs of the Animation department and are efficient, reliable, to scale and to be easy to rig and animate.

Based on a solid understanding of the whole workflow and of what will be required of your models in the later stages of production, you will play a key role working together with the rest of the team, the Asset Supervisor and Head of Assets, as well as efficiently liaising with the rigging department, when required.

Responsibilities

  • Research or scan references.
  • Modelling and sculpting either characters or environments to a high level of finish
  • Follow design reference accurately and work in a range of styles, creating moderate to complex, organic and hard surface models
  • Participate as a team member in determining various technical solutions
  • Work to meet defined milestones within a timeline
  • Attend dailies and participate in problem solving

Requirements

  • Excellent knowledge of Maya
  • Professional experience creating complex organic and hard surface models
  • Ability to model either characters or environments, working to a high level of finish
  • Good drawing skills, including use of light and shadow, along with a good understanding of anatomy, a strong sense of scale, form, weight and volume
  • Good understanding of modelling with either Polygons or NURBS and ability to do UV mapping
  • Ability to deliver on schedule, working calmly and efficiently under pressure
  • Solid understanding of the production pipelines
  • Willingness to take direction and to address constructive feedback
