The role of Motion Graphics Designer is within VICE’s Design hub in the London office. This is the creative heart of VICE EMEA, providing a multi faceted design service to the different departments within the company. The Design Hub is made up of an Art Director and a mix of Graphic Designers and Motion Designers who are responsible for creating innovative design solutions for a variety of VICE projects. We are a sociable group of multi-disciplinary creatives who are incredibly passionate about what we do. Role x You
You will have a strong editorial sense and a passion for short-form storytelling and visual communication. Using your creative motion and illustrative skill set, you will be responsible for transforming VICE’s original reporting into multi-platform, multi-disciplinary visual assets which are published across its digital channels such as Instagram, VICE.com, Twitter, Facebook but with a specific focus on Snapchat Discover.
In the short term…you will conceptualise and execute ideas for new and innovative storytelling formats and have ownership of your projects. You will lead and execute projects from conception to delivery, while taking responsibility to ensure projects are delivered on time, while maintaining brand consistency throughout all your work. You will package and distribute design assets for international VICE offices in multiple languages while helping police the quality control of the rest of the Snapchat Discover output in EMEA. You will also be working with the rest of the design team on design and identity work for VICE’s video hub tentpole releases.
After 6 months in this role… you will have established good relationships within the office by collaborating with others to execute special editorial projects and marketing campaigns. Alongside the VICE Snapchat Discover team, you will hold regular catch ups with Snapchat, European Discover teams and the i-D Discover team to ensure effective information sharing and you will monitor and improve VICE’s automation workflow systems, allowing for efficient asset production, translation and delivery. You will be a specialist in your area technically, and can share your skills and knowledge with team members across the business.
After a year…You will be well established across the EMEA offices after having delivered groundbreaking visual work over the last year, which will have helped VICE deepen loyalty and fandom amongst its audience. In addition to this, you will always be looking for ways to push yourself and brand forward by inventing new innovative editorial led design formats.
You have these:
Experience as a Motion Graphics Designer in a design or media agency, demonstrating a strong creative approach, execution and opinion
Experience working with Snapchat Discover, commercially branded content or a mobile first environment role would be a bonus
Masterful use of Adobe Creative Suite; you will impeccable design and layout skills with a strong attention to detail
A mix of motion graphics, UX and interactive design experience
Strong Illustration experience is a huge bonus
Amazing organisational skills and the ability to juggle a number of projects at once with challenging deadlines
We’d love if you also had these:
A strong understanding of the VICE editorial tone of voice, it’s mission and an understanding of journalistic practices
Working knowledge of Cinema 4D and Premiere Pro
Ability to speak a second language would be considered a bonus
