News Features Producer – Good Morning Britain
12 Month Fixed Term Contract

The most exciting team in television is looking for a top talent to join the driving force behind Good Morning Britain’s debates, news features, original journalism and multi-award winning campaign ‘1 Million Minutes’.

As News Features Producer you will work closely with the Head and Deputy Head of News Features and the Senior Producers to set the daily agenda, creating and casting the most captivating and thought provoking debates on television. You will also have the opportunity to produce original journalism with the expectation of delivering national front page headlines as well working on our multi-award winning campaigns and features. The hours can be varied and Producers will be expected at times to work unpredictable hours, Sundays and early morning shifts

Responsibilities;

  • Generating original, creative and agenda-setting ideas for debates and panel discussions.
  • Booking headline-making and eye-catching contributors.
  • Producing guests both in studio and on location.
  • Writing succinct and accurate briefs and scripts.
  • Helping GMB to improve representation of disabled, Black, Asian and Ethnic Minority contributors.
  • Building and managing contacts with a view to delivering exclusive stories.
  • Generating original journalism ideas, with knowledge of Freedom of Information Acts and surveys.
  • Confidently be able to independently plan, script and direct a camera crew to produce creative and compelling VTs
  • Directing on location cameras, live OBs and VT edits.
  • Working with key stakeholders and talent.
  • Pitching and selling aspects of your work at editorial meetings.
  • Being prepared to act up as Senior Producer and lead the daily team when required.

Minimum Criteria:

  • A strong understanding of Good Morning Britain’s editorial output in particular the debates.
  • Ability to demonstrate an eye for spotting and creating agenda setting issues, conversations, debate and original journalism.
  • A healthy contacts book.
  • A detailed knowledge of news and current affairs.
  • Demonstrable working knowledge of OFCOM regulation, duty of care, legal and compliance issues.
  • A proven track record of producing both live and VT content.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as well as independently.
  • Strong communication, organisation and time management skills.
  • Ability to work towards tight deadlines as well as on multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Proactive, professional and a supportive team player.
