Role summary

The purpose of the Junior Studio Production Manager is to manage clients attending the TV studios from first contract to completion. This ranges from but is not limited to negotiating quotes, issuing contracts, scheduling and booking kit and crew necessary for the clients to produce their show.

Principle accountabilities

  • Ensures the smooth delivery of the client experience for Returning Clients utilising the TV studios
  • Negotiates and finalises quotes for the studio and kit hire with clients and suppliers
  • Books correct amount of freelance crew and equipment for each client, within the parameters of budget guidelines and insuring economies of scale (e.g. if kit can be shared across two productions)
  • Signs off invoices of all kit and crew that have been booked and reconciles productions at the end of the run for accounts.
  • Liaises with Ops/H&S/FS/Security/Reception to ensure smooth access for productions, car parking for audiences and any other requirements that productions have.
  • Represents the Company at show recordings, client recess, lunches and occasional functions to build our current and new business relationships
  • Identifies and communicates new business ideas to the Head of TV


Nature and scope

Most of the role holders time is spent booking kit and crew, signing off invoices and communicating with clients to understand and deliver their specific needs during their time at the Pinewood TV studios. Planning horizons would span up to 6-8 months in advance, but they would also be involved in the day to day execution of those plans.

The role holder would require an in depth understanding of TV Studio Production, have an awareness of H&S practices, whilst being highly organised and an effective communicator. They would manage a team of up to 16 freelancers in the operational delivery of a show which requires an element of team leadership skills

They have the autonomy to take full control of the operational delivery of productions, provided they operate within the budgetary constraints of each quote provided to the client. Anything that would result in an increased cost would have to be signed off by the Head of TV. New supplier requests would be in line with Pinewood’s wider recruitment process. The incumbent would need to consider the Offcom regulations in relation to booking crew (a % needs to be based outside of the M25).

The success of the role is underpinned by building and maintaining relationships with client’s freelancers and internal stakeholders (finance, HR, Operations).

Skills and experience

  • GCSE Maths and English
  • Proven track record of practical experience in a large-scale studio-based production
  • Experience of working within a customer focussed environment
  • Experience of working with and building relationships with senior external stakeholders
  • Database, ratecard and CRM management
  • Understanding of TV resource products, both technical and operational
