Jellyfish Pictures is looking for an experienced Pipeline Engineer to work on the development and implementation of a brand new generation of tools. This is an exciting opportunity to have design influence in developing custom applications and tools for asset management, and integration with our new Database and Shotgun production management systems.

As a Senior Pipeline developer at Jellyfish, you will work as part of a highly engaged and knowledgeable team developing pioneering tools that enable our artists to tackle increasingly complex and creative challenges in the production of stunning – and award-winning – Visual Effects and Animation work.

You will report to the Head of Pipeline and deeply influence, from initial design, all aspects of the software development life-cycle; iterating, supporting and maintaining software as well as integrating tools into our existing pipeline, developed predominantly in Python.

Requirements

Our Software Engineers are highly technical and are methodical in their approach to solving complex problems. You will regularly be required to:

  • Investigate solutions and techniques to improve our existing tools and software packages
  • Develop new software and tools which integrate into pipeline that improve flexibility and control for artists managing complex scenes and asset hierarchies.
  • Present ideas for development opportunities to the Lead and Senior Developers
  • Collaborate with other engineers and lead artist to develop systems that integrate workflows across all disciplines with a focus on scaling up capacity.
  • Produce technical specifications and documentation for the tools you develop

Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or other relevant areas of study and/or equivalent job experience.
  • 5+ years of experience as a TD or Software Engineer supporting CG disciplines in the VFX industry.
  • Strong knowledge of Python.
  • Experience with DCC’s such as Houdini, Maya and Nuke, both API’s and application
  • Strong understanding of VFX workflow and practical knowledge of computer graphics fundamentals and current technologies
  • Experience with profiling and optimization
  • Experience with asset management system development.

Beneficial to have:

  • Experience in Shotgun
  • Experience in UI implementation with PySide or other Qt libraries
