About Us

Our History

Established in 2015, Video Collective was created to help filmmakers. We started as a small free job board and grew into a thriving worldwide community with over 230K members and 300K visitors per month. Our site has been featured by numerous film schools, universities, film bodies, and charities.

Who We Are

We’re not going to ramble on with a load of marketing spiel but instead give you the simple honest truth. We love filmmaking, and we want to see others love it too.

Our goal is to inform, educate, and inspire in all things film related. We want to build a passionate community of freelancers who want to improve their craft, help each other, and further their careers. Our site is built by freelancers… for freelancers!

So whether you’re a pro or a first-time filmmaker, you’ve come to the right place.

Diversity and inclusivity is also a key focus of our community. We want to attract, develop and promote talented individuals regardless of their race, sexual orientation, religion, age, gender, disability, or socioeconomic background.

Why Trust Us?

We believe in doing the right thing and being 100% honest. Plain and simple.

All of our authors are professionals within the film and television industry with years of knowledge and experience under their belts.

We wouldn’t be where we are today without the help and expertise of our writers, providing in-depth, real-world, and unbiased articles.

We always try to responsibly present all of the information contained in our content. We source our claims so that we do not misrepresent anyone, and we prefer primary sources over all others. We present facts as facts and opinions as opinions.

If we tell you that a camera is great, it’s because we’ve put it through its paces and we believe it delivers what it promises. And likewise, if a product or service fails to deliver, we’ll tell you that too. No B.S. 😉

Affiliates & Advertising

Video Collective has nothing to hide, we keep a roof over our heads through affiliate marketing. Some links to shopping sites are affiliated in order to generate revenue for the running of the site. This means when you purchase through these links, we may earn an affiliate commission (at no additional cost to you).

Also, from time to time, we publish sponsored posts (paid-for editorial content) on the site. When this is the case the content is clearly marked, so you’ll always know which content is sponsored and which is not.

All of this helps with website costs (hosting, plugins, etc) and also most importantly paying our writers. This means we’re able to operate thanks to the support of our readers. So for that, we thank you! 🙌

Anyway, that’s enough from us. Enjoy the site!
