In this review, I’ll test out Artgrid by looking at footage quality, pricing, and website features.

Artgrid is a new stock video site that offers cinematic-quality clips for a monthly subscription.

Get 2 Months Free on all subscriptions. Get high-quality, unlimited, royalty-free footage for just $19.99/month. That’s got to be worth a try! 🙌

What is Artgrid?

Most people can spot stock footage from a mile away, which is why it’s become harder for filmmakers to source B-roll for their projects.

Artgrid is a platform that offers access to a large library of professional-grade stock footage. Subscriptions are based on a flat-rate model, meaning you pay an annual fee and can download as much footage as you like.

All footage is royalty-free and comes with a universal license that never expires, even if you end up canceling your subscription.

Who is Artgrid for?

Artgrid offers high-quality B-roll footage for creators of all kinds. If you’re an independent filmmaker or YouTuber who makes a lot of videos, then they might be perfect for you.

  • Filmmakers: Artgrid footage is film grade, so it can be a useful resource for short films and low-budget projects when you want to avoid shooting B-roll, or you have an idea that you can’t really shoot yourself.
  • Online Platforms: Free rights to use footage in your content on YouTube, TikTok, and other social media (even new ones that come out later on).
  • Repeat Usage: When you download a clip and receive the license, you’re free to use that footage over and over again as much as you like, even if you decide to leave Artgrid.
  • Small Agencies: The universal license provided covers client work.

Find out all you need to know about how the platform works and what’s included in its subscription plans to see if it’s the right fit for you.

How Does it Work?

Signing up to Artgrid is relatively simple. Just follow these 5 simple steps:

  1. Click on the link above and go to the homepage.
  2. Select a subscription
  3. Create an account and add payment details (you won’t be charged for the first 2 months)
  4. Check out as normal
  5. That’s it!

Features

Users can search through Artgrid’s library of stock footage via three different categories: Video Themes, Shot Types, and People. Each main category has several filters within them to narrow down your search.

In addition, Artgrid has developed a Collections section that includes video collections curated by the Artgrid team based on different themes.

In my opinion, the user interface is pretty straightforward, separating its library of stock footage into three main categories.

Themes

Video themes side menu section

If you have a theme in mind for your project, the Video Themes category can be a useful tool for narrowing down your search. When you select this category, you have the option to explore different sub-categories based on various themes.

Here is the full list of filter options available:

AbstractElements of NatureLoveTime Lapse
AerialsFashionMedical & HealthTransportation
AgricultureFoodNature & LandscapeTravel & World
Animals & WildlifeGreen PlanetOverlayUrban & City
ArtsHomeReligion & TraditionsVintage
Business & ProfessionsIndustrialSports & Fitness
EducationLifestyleTechnology & Science

Selecting any one of these themes will show you videos that are tagged under that category. For Video Themes, you can only browse one category at a time.

Shot Type

Shot type side menu section

The next browsing option is to search for footage based on Shot Type. This is the most effective search option that Artgrid offers. Searching by Shot Type allows you to add multiple filters at a time to find shots based on certain qualities like framing, camera movement, and format.

When you select Shot Type on the left-hand menu, a sub-menu with various filters will appear, organized by section:

  • Camera  Movement – Tripod, Handheld, or Smooth Movement.
  • Time allows – Day, Night, or Sunset & Sunrise
  • Location – Exterior or Interior.
  • Format – 4K+ or Raw & Log
  • Speed – Realtime, Slow, Super Slow, or Fast.

You can select as many filters as you want when narrowing your search results. This helps me when I’m searching for certain clips to use in an edit.

People

People side menu section

Artgrid also allows you to explore footage based on certain types of people, which I think is a nice feature. Selecting the People section from the main menu will open this library and a menu of filters you can apply to your search.

  • Ethnicity– Black, Hispanic & Latin, Middle Eastern & Indian, Caucasian, and Asian.
  • Age – Baby, Child, Teenager, Adult, and Elderly.
  • Gender – Male, Female, and Male & Female
  • Number – No People, 1, 2, Couple, Family, and Group.

Pricing

Artgrid pricing page

Artgrid offers a flat-rate subscription to its users. That means you pay one annual fee for unlimited access to its stock footage library.

There are three different subscription plans to choose from:

Junior
$19.99/month
Creator
$29.99/month
Pro
$49.92/month
HD Clips
H.246 format
Graded footage
Universal Artgrid license
Unlimited downloads
Lifetime use
4K-8K Clips
ProRes
RAW / LOG Clips

As you can see, the plan you choose depends on the quality and type of footage you need. The higher plan offers access to RAW/LOG files, which may be useful if you plan on doing a lot of post-production work.

If you’re a content creator looking to post on social media, then you should be fine with the Junior HD plan.

Is Artgrid Worth it or Not?

In my opinion, I think Artgrid is definitely worth it. Their pricing is very reasonable, and the website is easy to navigate, with a variety of categories to choose from.

Artgrid has built an impressive collection of stock footage that really doesn’t feel like “stock”. Their clips have a cinematic quality, so you should be able to find stuff that fits perfectly into an edit.

Lastly, their standard license allows you to use the footage for commercial purposes and monetization. 👌
